Position Overview

Knight Nicastro MacKay is seeking experienced litigation paralegal for our expanding practice in our Denver, CO office. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have strong analytical and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize work for multiple attorneys, and the ability to work well with team members. Experience with analyzing medical records a plus. Must have excellent communication skills and function well in a team setting.

Starting Salary |

$60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

  • Summarizes complex legal documents. 
  • Organizes and indexes complex case files. 
  • Performs wide variety of legal research and data compilation, with little or no supervision. 
  • Organizes and analyzes documentary evidence including medical records, reports, depositions, discovery, investigative and other documents and summaries. 
  • Drafts a wide variety of legal documents including interpretation and preparation of chronologies and summaries.
  • Prepares and handles tracking and disposition of subpoenas or other requests for information. 
  • Conducts research on legal issues and investigation of witnesses and experts, including social media and internet research. 
  • Prepares affidavits or documents and maintains document file. 
  • Prepares for mediations and trials. 
  • Communicates with clients, witnesses, experts.
  • Assists Attorney at trial. 
  • Assists Attorney in preparation for depositions. 

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience with docketing, file organization, document management and production, preparing disclosure and discovery documents, preparing basic motions, preparing for depositions and trials, and trial assistance. 
  • Experience with case management software and time/billing software is required. 
  • Prior experience with litigation processes; comfortable with the deadline driven nature of a litigation practice.
  • Proficient in e-filing (state and federal level), 
  • Experience handling subpoenas and responding to discovery. 
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Word, Power Point, Outlook and Excel required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication and organizational skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Paralegal certificate a plus
  • Organize: Exceptional organization skills, which include time management, attention to detail, and multi-tasking. 
  • Prioritize: manage multiple projects and meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Flexibility: Willingness and ability to perform additional tasks as required.
  • Initiative: Ability to anticipate needs and manage changing priorities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.

Some travel is required for trials. Spanish speaking is a preferred qualification.
