KNM is proud to announce that five of its own have earned their places in the 2025 Edition of The Best Lawyers in America® and two have been recognized for Best Lawyers – Ones to Watch in America.®

Best Lawyers is one of the most reliable, unbiased sources of legal referrals, and has published their list for more than three decades. Its peer review process and independent evaluation of nominated attorneys offers a comprehensive approach to determining the merits of each individual recipient and ensures that each attorney honored as a ‘Best Lawyer’ will provide the highest quality client service, along with the greatest legal ability.

2025 Edition of The Best Lawyers in America

Accordingly, we are thrilled that five of our attorneys have earned the 2025 Best Lawyers distinction:

Chad Knight has focused his talent on civil litigation and transportation law for over 15 years. He has successfully represented railroad and trucking companies in numerous disputes across the country, maintaining a strong record of defense verdicts. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association and National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel and is licensed to practice in Mississippi, Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, Kansas, Missouri and the Montana State Supreme Court.

Derek MacKay defends a wide variety of cases, with a particular emphasis on personal injury, legal malpractice, and commercial general liability issues. He has not only continually reduced his clients’ extra-contractual liability exposure but has become increasingly sought out to parachute into cases to assist in keeping liability and exposure to a minimum, resulting in several defense verdicts and last-minute settlements in favor of his clients across the country.

Jonathan Morrow has litigated matters throughout the country. He has extensive experience with commercial disputes and first-party insurance issues such as arson and fraud. It is a testament to his skill and diligence that he has won defense verdicts in several notoriously difficult venues throughout Missouri and Illinois.

Elaine Moss focuses on complex insurance coverage matters, helping her clients navigate extra-contractual exposure, develop smart policies, and transfer risk. She litigates coverage and bad faith cases throughout the Midwest. She frequently writes and speaks about insurance-related topics. She has earned her bar admission to California and Missouri, as well as several federal districts and appellate circuits.

Anthony Nicastro has seen considerable success defending railroads of various classes under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA), crossing accidents, contract disputes and employment related disputes. Outside of his transportation practice he also represents clients involved in contract disputes, construction defect matters, employment matters, family law issues, landlord/tenant disputes and asbestos litigation claims. He also represents individuals in personal injury matters. He has experience in all aspects of civil litigation including jury trials and trials before the court.

Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America

We are also honored to announce that Oliver Maguire and Killian Walsh have been named to the Best Lawyers – Ones to Watch list. Individuals recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America are noteworthy attorneys identified for their talent early in their careers. Those acknowledged typically have been in practice for five to nine years and have displayed outstanding professional excellence. This recognition is also based on peer review.

Oliver Maguire is an experienced trial attorney, who has represented clients in courtrooms across the country. He has represented individuals, small businesses, large corporations, and insurance carriers in a wide variety of matters, such as landlord-tenant disputes, unlawful detainers, breach of contract, copyright infringement, and auto accidents.

Killian Walsh focuses her trial practice on representing industry clients in Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas. Though she regularly represents clients in high-dollar litigation involving multiple claimants, she is equally successful in representing mom-and-pop businesses in premises liability claims and insurance companies in large property loss claims. While Killian has been successful in obtaining favorable settlements for her clients through negotiations, she is no stranger to going down every avenue to prepare a matter for trial.

We are proud of our attorneys and are honored that this organization has recognized their work. We are a collaborative trial firm and know how hard these attorneys work for their clients.
