This initiative is part of a five-week challenge involving local legal professionals aiming to combat regional hunger, affecting one in seven residents.

Kansas City paralegals Karen Frisbie, Jeannie Johnson and Ashley Smith and attorney Michael Wise recently participated in Food from the Bar Helpy Hour with Judge Brent Powell where volunteers packed boxes to be distributed to area senior citizen nutrition programs.

The event is a part of Food from the Bar’s food and fund drive challenge for Harvesters Community Food Network. For five weeks, local law firms and legal professionals come together to end hunger in the region, where 1 in 7 residents are at risk of hunger.

Food from the Bar runs from April 1 to May 3 with firms competing to fundraise, collect food and contribute volunteer hours for Harvesters. Read more about the event and check the challenge leaderboard here.
