Steve is a trial lawyer in the Billings, Montana branch office for Knight Nicastro. His practice focuses on defending railroads in lawsuits involving toxic tort exposure claims. He has successfully defended railroads in lawsuits involving asbestos exposure claims, diesel exhaust allegations, silica and other substances. In addition to defending toxic exposure cases, he has experience defending railroads in cumulative trauma claims and specific incident lawsuits filed under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA). He has represented clients in all phases of the litigation process including trials, motions practice and depositions including expert witnesses.

Steve began his career as a Deputy Public Defender in Helena, Montana. As a Public Defender he handled all types of high felony criminal cases including homicides, sexual assaults, robberies and other serious felonies. He tried several cases to verdict and handled hundreds of cases to successful disposition, protecting his clients from the stresses of trial.
